Drone Flights at Cotswold Airport

The airport recognises the value that approved drone flights bring to the wider airfield and is happy to facilitate operations when correctly coordinated. All flights must receive both club approval and airport approval at least one week before the planned activity.

Approval Process

Before any flight can take place, the airfield will complete a risk assessment under their Safety Management System. In certain circumstances—depending on the submitted flight profile— the airport may allocate a member of Flight Operations staff to escort and oversee the activity. This service is chargeable.

Information Required from the Flight Operator

  • A detailed flight profile showing intended areas and heights in relation to the FRZ.
  • A full Risk Assessment and Method Statement / Operating Manual.
  • CAA‑issued Flyer ID and Operator ID.
  • Proof of Public Liability Insurance covering up to £10 million.

Compliance Requirements

All drone flights must strictly follow the agreed procedures, safety requirements, and approval conditions set by both the club and the airport.

Important Notice

  • Flights must not take place without prior club and airport approval.
  • All documentation must be submitted to CMCC and the airport at least one week before the intended flight.
  • Operators must comply with all airport safety instructions and FRZ limitations.
  • Failure to follow the approved process will result in immediate consequences.

Enforcement

Anyone conducting a drone flight outside of the approved process will receive a LIFETIME BAN from both the club and the airfield, regardless of membership status.
